Jerry Arthur Akers, 60, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, entered into rest on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at the Landmark Medical Center, surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born in Providence on July 7, 1955, the son of William Akers of West Warwick and the late Marceline (Weston) Akers. Mr. Akers received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Rhode Island, and had spent most of his career as a paralegal. He had also worked as a meat clerk at the Stop & Shop Supermarket on Manton Avenue, Providence.
He was an avid movie buff, voracious reader, and enjoyed most genres of music. He took an avid interest in philosophy, religion, and politics, but his greatest joy was his children, and he was extremely proud of their success, career and families.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Eberlein) Akers of Woonsocket, to whom he had been married since October, 2014; his children, Brandon and his wife, Tricia (Bonsante) of Oregon; Rebecca Buccheri and her husband David, of Warwick, and Nathan and Abigail of Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren Benjamin and Jonah Buccheri and Olivia and Elliot Akers.
