Julia Kinsey (Davis), 89, of Fischer Drive, North Kingstown died unexpectedly at home on Friday, October 30. She was the daughter of Michael and Minnie Davis of Allentown, PA. Her children and grandchildren were the pride of her life and her passing will leave a huge hole in their lives.
She was the beloved mother of Frederick H Kinsey, Jr. (Lewea, Delaware), Patricia Kinsey (Venice, FL), Shirley Kinsey and [partner Gerri August] (Wakefield, RI), and Judith Stevens and [Rick Stevens] (Santee, CA). She had 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Her sisters, Helen Nuben, Anna Reichel, Marian Transue, and Frieda Bracken and brothers, Fred Davis, Richard Davis, and David Davis predeceased her. Her brother Joseph Davis lives in Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
Julia was born in Allentown, PA and resided there until moving to RI in 1983. She was a seamstress and tailor for many years. In addition, she was a volunteer at Kent Hospital for 14 years. She was very active in the EG United Methodist Church and the NK Senior Center. She loved to travel – especially visiting her children and their families. For 12 years she traveled with the senior high school youth of the church to John’s Island, SC to rebuild homes with Volunteers in Missions. She completed the Midnight Sun marathon in Anchorage AK when she was 71 and competed in the Senior Olympics for many years.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday November 7 at 11:00 AM at the EG United Methodist Church, 1558 S. County Trail, East Greenwich, RI with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: “Volunteers in Missions” care of EGUMC.
