Robin Ann Hansen (Howland) of Providence passed suddenly on January 24, 2017. She was born in Warwick on November 7, 1957, the daughter of Ruth (Clark) and John J. Howland, Sr. She was the widow of Robert Hansen, who passed in 2007.
Robin was a graduate of Pilgrim High School and earned her Associates of Science degree from The Community College of Rhode Island. She had worked in food service for several assisted living facilities in Cranston in the 1990's, and also worked for nearly a decade for Foxwoods Casino as a server and prep cook.
Robin was a craftswoman with yarn, loved reading and playing bingo, and had a cackling, vivacious laugh. Though her life was filled with struggles, she always tried to smile and find a silver lining and small pockets of joy in gray skies. She didn't have much, but she would do her best to give what she could to make someone smile, especially her children.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Hughes and son-in-law Eddie of Manassas, VA; her son, Jason Leon of Providence; her sister, Ruth Tabora of Providence; her brother John Howland, Jr. of Providence; two granddaughters, Emily & Kailtyn Hughes of Manassas, VA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is pre-deceased by her parents; sisters Shirley, Isabelle, and Mary; and her granddaughter Ruth Mae.
A cremation Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 30, 2017 in the Historic Swan Point Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd. Providence, RI.
